Neurologically-focused chiropractic care for pregnancy — Webster Technique certified, gentle throughout every trimester, and designed to help your body do what it already knows how to do.
You deserve more than "that's normal"
You've probably been told that discomfort in pregnancy is just part of it. And while some changes are inevitable, a lot of what women are told to simply endure is actually addressable — with the right kind of support.
We don't just manage symptoms. We look at how your nervous system and pelvis are functioning, and we support them in doing their job — which is preparing your body for birth.
"We see pregnancy not as a condition to be managed, but as one of the most important windows of health in a family's life. That's where our care begins."
— Dr. Josh & Dr. Jess BurckhardTrimester by trimester
Pregnancy changes your body differently in each trimester — and our care changes with it. Here's what we're paying attention to as you move through each phase.
The first trimester is when your body begins its most dramatic hormonal changes — including the release of relaxin, which begins loosening ligaments and joints in preparation for what's ahead. This is also when many women experience their first back and pelvic discomfort, often before they even look pregnant. Early chiropractic care helps your pelvis and spine adapt to these changes from the start, establishing a foundation that supports the months ahead.
As your belly grows, your center of gravity shifts forward — changing the way load is distributed through your spine, hips, and pelvis. Round ligament pain, mid-back tension, and the early onset of sciatica are common in this trimester. Webster Technique care helps maintain pelvic balance, reduce tension on the uterine ligaments, and keep your nervous system functioning at its best as your body does the extraordinary work of growing a baby.
The third trimester is when pelvic alignment matters most. A pelvis that is balanced and moving freely gives your baby the best possible environment to settle into an optimal position for birth. Webster Technique care in the third trimester has been associated with improved baby positioning and is often recommended by midwives and OBs who understand its value. We also work to ensure your body is as prepared as possible for the physical demands of labor — so you can begin that experience with everything working in your favor.
What we address
These aren't conditions to endure. They're signals from your body that it could use some support — and most of them respond well to neurologically-focused chiropractic care.
Schedule a ConsultationOne of the most common pregnancy complaints — and one of the most responsive to chiropractic care. We address the underlying mechanical causes, not just the discomfort.
Instability and pain at the front or back of the pelvis, often made worse by walking or turning in bed. Pelvic alignment work can make a significant difference.
Sharp, burning, or radiating pain down the leg — often dismissed but genuinely debilitating. We assess what's contributing and address it directly.
Sharp twinges in the lower abdomen as the uterine ligaments stretch. Reducing tension in the pelvis and surrounding structures can reduce how often and how severely this occurs.
As the ribcage expands to accommodate your growing uterus, the mid-back and ribs can become a significant source of discomfort. Often overlooked, almost always addressable.
Postural changes during pregnancy frequently contribute to upper back and neck tension — which can drive headaches. Spinal support here often helps significantly.
A balanced pelvis gives a baby the room to move into an optimal position for birth. Webster Technique care is specifically designed to support this.
Pain that wakes you up, hips that ache no matter your position — improving musculoskeletal comfort during pregnancy often has a direct and meaningful impact on sleep.
The Webster Technique
The Webster Technique is a specific chiropractic analysis and adjustment focused on the sacrum and pelvis. Developed by Dr. Larry Webster and refined through decades of clinical use, it is designed to reduce sacral misalignment and the associated tension in the muscles and ligaments of the pelvis — creating an environment of greater balance and freedom of movement.
When the pelvis is balanced, the uterus and its supporting ligaments can function with less tension. This matters for comfort throughout pregnancy. It also matters for how a baby positions as birth approaches.
Your doctors
Pregnancy care at Whole Health is provided by both Dr. Josh and Dr. Jess — equally trained, equally experienced, and equally committed to your comfort and your birth outcome.
A chiropractor and a mother who has supported hundreds of pregnant women over 20 years. Her care is gentle, attentive, and deeply informed by both clinical training and lived experience of pregnancy and birth.
A chiropractor and a father who brings genuine awe and clinical precision to pregnancy care. He is amazed, every time, by what the body does during pregnancy — and that wonder informs how carefully he approaches supporting it.
Both doctors care for pregnant patients. We actively encourage you to build a relationship with both over the course of your pregnancy — and many patients tell us that seeing each doctor at different points gave them a more complete picture of how their body was adapting.
Schedule a ConsultationYour first visit
We see pregnant patients at every stage of pregnancy, from the first trimester onward. Here's what your first visit looks like.
We start with your story
We want to understand your pregnancy so far — how your body is feeling, what's been difficult, what you're hoping for between now and your birth, and what kind of birth experience you're working toward. That context shapes everything we do.
Then we assess
We assess your spine, pelvis, and nervous system function with techniques specifically adapted for pregnancy. Nothing we do is uncomfortable or unsafe. If anything feels unexpected, we stop and explain before continuing.
Then we talk
You'll leave knowing what we found, what we think it means for your pregnancy and birth preparation, and what care looks like going forward. We build a plan around your goals and your schedule — not a template.
